Welcome to Harvey, IL
Message from our Mayor
As your mayor, I will work to restore the name and reputation of our great City of Harvey, Illinois. You have my commitment to make decisions based on experience and on principles of what I believe will best benefit Harvey residents.
Community Alert
The 154th Street Improvement Project is scheduled to begin on July 8, 2024, with an anticipated completion date in November 2024. This project involves the complete reconstruction of 154th Street from Wood Street to Broadway and will result in FULL STREET CLOSURE for both motorists and pedestrians.
While we understand that this part of the project will cause inconvenience for both residents and businesses, the final result will benefit all. Once completed you can expect to see new curbs, freshly laid gutters, an end to potholes and improved infrastructure.
We ask that you begin planning alternate routes. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and cooperation throughout this improvement process as we work to move the City of Harvey forward.
PLEASE NOTE:
During reconstruction, 153rd Street will become a two (2) way street going both east and west between Wood Street and Broadway Avenue. Center Avenue, Turlington Avenue, Lexington Avenue, Loomis Avenue, Myrtle Avenue, Vine Avenue, Ashland Avenue, Marshfield Avenue, Paulina Street, and Page Avenue will become two (2) way streets going both north and south.

The City of Harvey under Mayor Christopher J. Clark’s leadership has partnered with the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP)(External link) to create its first Comprehensive Plan and establish a vision and land use strategy for the City. The plan will help residents, business owners, and elected and appointed officials guide future actions, decisions, and development in the community. The project is being led by Houseal Lavigne(External link), a Chicago-based urban planning firm whose expertise will help guide development of the Comprehensive Plan, in collaboration with City Administrator, Corean Davis and her staff.
