City Plans are Shaping the Future

Harvey has developed several plans and guides to direct its future.  These include City-Wide Plans and Targeted Plans focused on specific areas or functions.

CITY-WIDE – PLANS & GUIDES

The City of Harvey is proud to announce the adoption of its Comprehensive Plan at the February 24, 2025, City Council meeting—a major milestone for the city’s future! This is the first comprehensive plan undertaken since 1968, marking a significant step forward under Mayor Christopher J. Clark’s leadership.
 
“This is the beginning of work that should have been done decades ago,” said Mayor Clark.
Developed with extensive community input, this plan serves as a strategic blueprint to guide Harvey’s growth, infrastructure, and economic development for years to come. Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing more details about the vision and priorities outlined in the plan.
 
We’re excited about the road ahead and invite you to be part of this transformation! Stay tuned for updates on how this plan will shape Harvey’s future.

TARGETED – PLANS & GUIDES

The following are targeted plans aimed at key areas or functions of the City,

The City is making major improvements to its downtown including 154th Street Improvement Project, new Metra/Pace Transportation Center, upgrading the pavement sidewalk for safety and ADA compliant sidewalk improvements, and improved lighting conditions along 154th Street.

The Harvey Broadband Strategic Plan articulates the community’s broadband vision and provides recommendations for improving broadband access, adoption, and utilization amongst area residents, businesses, and anchor institutions.

The City has envisioned a network of multifunctional parks, public open spaces, and Neighborhood Hubs that will be anchored by a new Central Park.

The City has identified 400 acres on the west side along Dixie Highway to attract business and industry, investment, and jobs to Harvey.

The City is currently in the process approving a Comprehensive Plan, The Draft Harvey Comprehensive Plan is now open for public review and comment. This important document outlines the long-term vision for the community, including land use, housing, economic development, transportation, and more.
